GROUPS

It has been encouraging to hear good reports from the CFF(NZ) groups that are running well.

AUCKLAND
Norma and David were in Auckland in June and met with 20 people who had an interest in CFF get togethers.
It was good to meet together over coffee, enjoy a movie and meal. We are still seeking people with an interest to see CFF grow in Auckland.

BAY OF PLENTY/WAIKATO
There have been many opportunities to meet with others over the past few months. A weekend away was enjoyed in a holiday home at Lake Tarawera and more recently a walk, hot springs and shared meal followed by DVD evening. Coming up in August: walk in the Redwoods Forest, Rotorua, followed by hot pools and evening meal; Ten Pin bowling in Tauranga with a shared meal.

CHRISTCHURCH
The Christchurch group continues to go well with a number of members opening their homes for group functions. There is good input from the members for some great times of sharing, friendship and fun. A number from the group spent a weekend at Hanmer Springs recently. “It was an awesome weekend with heaps of fun and great fellowship!” Other functions have included a meal at a Chinese restaurant; DVD evening and dessert. Last week there was a meal and games evening.

“We finally did it - we married in February! Here are the photos to prove it! As you see it was a lovely sunny day. Overall it was the happiest day of my life, and married life is just as good....
We are more than happy to help out with the worship music at the Mt Hutt Retreat in August.” M/F 50’s Canterbury.

FRIENDSHIPS
Although we do not have a large membership, a number of people are still connecting and forming good friendships, as is evident from messages over these last few months.

“I have met someone through CFF and we have had good companionship together. I am grateful to you both for setting up CFF and wish you well.” M.... Bay of Plenty 40’s

“I have met a beautiful lady, so to avoid any conflict and possible disappointment I’d like to have my name off the list! Thank you for the assistance with CFF.” M..50’s Otago

“We, at present believe there is a future in our friendship, please can you place a hold on our names as we wish not to have others contact us..
If things do work out we will keep you posted as our friendship grows and advise you of our plans.
Please pray for us that we make right choices and hear right from the Lord. Thank you for running this service that allowed us to contact each other.” M/F Canterbury 40’s

From a Distance! (M/F 60+ North Island)
Email: “Just thought I would email you and thank you for the opportunity to meet …… through CFF
We are getting on well and believe God is in this friendship. He is a lovely man and a true man of God. I am delighted and all is going well. We are going to get engaged soon. So happy together and both know GOD is in this ……..
Thank you and David for being a big part in our becoming friends and for having us as part of CFF.
Praise the Lord for CFF. We would never probably have met each other both being in different cities………
Many Thanks! God Bless You!” F….

And:
Letter: “I wouldn't have had the gumption to do this if I hadn't first had the assurance from CFF of the God-given naturalness of what I was doing. God hasn't let me stand still as I have sought contact with others.....”
Conversation: “CFF has worked for me! I have met someone!” M….

NB: Both the above members indicated that they much preferred to meet someone from their immediate region, but they reached out and made contact from a distance of over 140 km!

In memory of Gladys Shields, died 14 May 2008
Stan & Gladys Shields started CFF(NZ) in 1983. They were an English couple who met through CFF(UK). Gladys married Stan as a single woman in her 50’s and was a vibrant woman of God who lived out her faith by ‘walking the walk.’ She died after a brief illness and we will miss her prayerful support and encouragement.
We were able to visit Stan when we were in Auckland recently. He is elderly and in care in Whangaparoaoa.

We look forward to meeting up with a number of you in the spring.
